brilliant smiles
dresses loved and admired
but mine lacked an intensity
of being
I was to remain either
anxious to be or
cannot have been and so
with steps taken
by gentle determination,
and into which uncertain door
so that I reply, whole and present
to this chance to be the
essential me.
