Shivering With The Night (October 31, 2010)

shivering with the night
staring steep into space,
at that very spot
too late I uncovered
the old light of love

When The Doors Were Flung Open (October 30, 2010)

When the doors were flung open
I wandered in through
diamond reflections
the constant fires
of a thousand Mirrors
tilting space loomed darkly
against the brilliant sky
what long shining nights

Come Back To The Beginning (October 28, 2010)

come back
to the beginning.
if you say
listen to the worn-out clock
beloved friend
see how that thread is broken
for now is the time
of Yellow brocade
and Today is the day
for deep falling blossoms

Now For The First Time (October 27, 2010)

now
For the first time
describe the beautiful
slowly and by name
remembering many things,
as though you alone
had the eyes to see

But Who Will Await The Return of the Earth (October 26, 2010)

But who will await
the return of the earth
from the blackness
an exiled night
we have brought salt
and a change in the wind
that trembled Otherwise

But If You Have Never Seen (October 25, 2010)

but if you have never seen
the great wheat field
you can have no idea how
alone in the midst
the very heart of a circle
majestic sorrow
the depth of lonely

This Morning Light (October 24, 2010)

this morning light,
rising softly
the sound of satin
slipping up the river
rays of bright color
a beginning again
Another day,
and so innocent

A Rare Privilege (October 23, 2010)

a rare privilege,
to see time paused
interrupted, still
and I hold something anything
this pink-and-white carnation
as though
a vision from beyond
a moment weighs nothing

Awakened Quite Alone (October 22, 2010)

awakened
quite alone
with heartache.
a dark rolll call

For The Very Love Of You (October 21, 2010)

for the very love of you
the most splendid flames
the apple of my
hungry glance
each step with care
into its sweetness

The Wind Weeps A Sweet Gentleness (October 20, 2010)

the wind weeps
a sweet gentleness
but only for a while.
and looking
can you find the owl
in the palace
of the night,
seeing still in his eyes,
There is only
so much to tell.

I Too Am Hollow (October 19, 2010)

I too am
hollow as an old tree
I withdraw alone
a quiet shadow
chosen to inherit
the night

Footsteps Come and Go (October 18, 2010)

footsteps
come and go there,
in the shadow
of disappointment
between the trees
the dreamer
waved a piece of fabric
where it
fell cautiously
and by slow degrees
into a ring
of forsaken silence

The Rebellion Came Out Of The Shadows (October 17, 2010)

the rebellion
came out of the shadows
meek and quiet,
the people spoke
It seems uncapturable

Please With Relish (October 14, 2010)

please with relish
let down at the door
I have brought you
these clumps of red
persistent
like promised jewels.
You must learn
that much is laughter.

Be The Odd Smile (October 15, 2010)

be the odd smile
Tiptoeing into the room,
And bring me a crown
The ranks are thinning.
The larders must be filled.

Sometimes A Blissful Sigh (October 14, 2010)

Sometimes
a blissful sigh
anchors lifted
Watching and waiting
clouds of waxed paper
floating over
the endless blue
my scattered imagining
And the ghost of a smile

The Storm Arose Slowly From The Waves (October 13, 2010)

The storm
arose slowly from the waves.
blew across a great mist
then fell like pounding
the flat rocks
that far vista
in a blur of blue
our arrival here,
safe home
what a wonder!

These Pine Branches (October 12, 2010)

these
pine branches
colored
wide and shady
fragrant
so gentle a place
the sun on stones,
a long time
silent

Between Here And The Next Dawn (October 11, 2010)

between here and
the next dawn
one hundred
wonders waiting
a bowl of momentous
the depth of dreams
for I have seen the queen,
Shall we go
without stopping
into the night

And Now, Threading This Needle (October 9, 2010)

And now,
threading this needle,
letting my hands
remember other days
Once polished to a blaze
the warmth of copper
and Yet
how each one
faded to a lovely gray
as though
worn pale by the night

So Sorry (October 8, 2010)

so sorry
I could never find
my dense cluster of keys
they may be
somewhere indefinable
and cavernous
along with
my wrinkled wits

This Good Morning (October 7, 2010)

This
Good morning,
arrived on soundless wings
as if by magic,
Then was
carried off by accident
in a spell of
turning back
time

Another Autumn (October 6, 2010)

another autumn.
All the while,
watching the
surrounding trees
still radiant with
burning color
always the
slow procession
toward forever

An Exhilarating Walk (October 5, 2010)

an exhilarating walk through
leaves thick and soft
everything a stillness of
a different color.
and the inevitable
We will have berries for breakfast.

Some Unseen Sparkled Something (October 2, 2010)

some unseen sparkled
something fluttered into view,
and then
ran shivering into the stream
a breath of starlight
fierce with living.

An Unsettled Hearth / by Stacey Wilson, Guest Poet

Looks like a new tradition is starting here at Missouri Bend Paper Works -- a found poem by a guest poet will be the post for the first day of each month!  This feature actually started last month, with Gabriella Mirollo, whose poem posted on September 4th. The guest poet for October is Stacey Wilson of The Odd Inkwell.  Here's a little background on Stacey with links to her blogs, followed her poem, An Unsettled Hearth!

Stacey Wilson is a poetess sequestered in the east tower of her family's ancestral mansion. To pass the time, she creates found poetry and found haiku from cutting up very old books. Occasionally, she incorporates poetry with found object art. She blogs her poetry at http://theoddinkwell.com and is sometimes known by the name Theo D. Dinkwell.
She also writes short free verse poetry and haiku.
