this circle of stones
keeping the silent time
of some other history
the spirit slowly taken root
Without an uttered word

There It Was Again (September 8, 2010)

Yet there it was again,
the narrow spinning time
bewildered
I disappeared into the cave
and waited
quiet magnified
eyelids shut
my vision, found.
It fell from my hand
almost too sweet to bear.

Peering through
that dark night
the ancestors
could not know
what matter this was
an odd misty radiance
in a vanishing perhaps,
so They lifted the lid
and read the stars
through the elaborate
echo of time
